CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in the Prairie Cemetery, rural Oblong.

The Honorable Madonna Stahl, age 86, a former New York City Court Judge for 12 years, died December 17, 2014 in Ithaca, NY following numerous complications from Multiple Sclerosis. Judge Stahl was born September 26, 1928 in rural Oblong IL.
She was predeceased by her parents, the late Lawrence Stahl and Inez Kennedy Stahl.
Madonna is survived by her three sons: Khushro Ghandhi and Behram Ghandhi both of Los Angeles, CA and Rustom (Patricia) Ghandhi of Edgewood MD; two sisters, Marilyn (Ray) Watts of Robinson, IL and Sharon (Rick) Kirk of Oblong, IL; two grandsons, Sorab Ghandhi, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA and Jamshed Ghandhi of Darlington, MD as well as nieces and nephews Sheila Watts of Schenectady, NY, Keith (Kathy) Watts of Daleville, IN along with Troy (Carla) Hart and Jody Waldrop, all of Robinson, IL. Judge Stahl is also survived by her second husband, Don T. Birkmayer of Ithaca, NY who she married in 1987; her step-children Carolyn Cox-Hughes of Cohoes, NY, Nancy Kane of Wynantskill, NY and Richard Birkmayer, Sr.
Madonna attended Prairie Grade School (rural Oblong, IL), Robinson High School and graduated with a B. S. Degree from the University of Illinois in 1950 and earned her J.D. at Albany (NY) Law School graduating in 1973 at the age of 45. She then went on to become the first woman judge in Albany City Court. In 1978 she was honored by being qualified and admitted as an attorney to present cases before the United States Supreme Court.
